Hi there. I’m Megan from Orvis Customer Service the answer to your question is that the newer version is larger. Item SI9X41 is 7,812 cubic inches while the Safe Passage® Rolling Vented Duffle, item SI96GX is 7,200 cubic inches. Item SI9X41 does have a separate vented compartment.
