This jacket has a warm detachable shearling collar. The rest of the jacket is only lightly insulated in the body and the sleeves. I live on the east coast of Scotland, where mid-winter temperatures of around zero Celsius are exacerbated by penetrating damp cold. This jacket requires you to wear additional layers underneath to cope with that - I'm coping at present with a t-shirt and a thick but lightweight technical fleece. In combination with the Spirit jacket, this is perfectly cosy on a Scottish winter's day, although I would switch to something more waterproof if blizzard conditions were expected. If you want a leather jacket that can cope with serious sub zero temperatures by itself, then you are probably looking for something lined with shearling. But then that's much more expensive, and not so practical for wearing at other times of the year! Your choice......!
