Hi this is Matt from Orvis Technical; I noticed no one had answered your question, but Briquettes are not included with the Cobb Grill. You may use the briquettes of your choice and can be purchased at any local hareware or grilling supply store.

Hi, this is Matt from Orvis Technical, I notice no one had answered your question but, we do not recommend using any form of liquid fuel. To light the coals on a Cobb Grill we recommend a solid fire starter. The brand that is recommended is by Diamond and Called Strike-a-fire. It can be found in most grocery or harware stores. They are made from compressed sawdust and wax and burn for about 10 minutes each. You simply place one of these under the charcoal and light it and allow it to burn out, at which time the Charcoal will be perfectly lit. You can also use self starting briquettes, however they tend to flavor the food adversely, so are not as good as using a fire starter, which burn all the fuel off before cooking.
