"that this jacket is long enough to cover most sports coats. The center back length is 32 inches for small, 33 inches for medium and large and 34 inches for extra large and XXL. We offer this in olive only.

The answer is that the jacket is not treated to be waterproof so may absorb moisture. It is designed to provide protection from wind and cold.
