Hi there. I’m Matt from Orvis Technical. I noticed that a customer has not answered your question, but I suggest the Battenkill Large Arbor IV reel (Item #65HE). This reel is very light with plenty of room for backing.

Its been long enough since I purchased this rod, I can answer my own question now...for Spey style casting and occasional over head casts, I use the Elixr 7/8 380 GR. scandi style of line. Its the line that Orvis recommends and its great with this rod. For fishing deeper with big flies and long sink tips I use a 360 GR compact Skagit head and I love it.

If you are going to use a single hand line you need to use a 9wt line. I have tried a 8wt salmon steelhead line for my 7wt switch and it doesn't load up the rod enough.

Hi there. I’m Megan from Orvis Customer Service. Since no one has answered your question yet, I did a little research for you, and here’s what I found out:

This item only comes with one fighting butt that is shown in the main picture online.
