Regarding your question, I have the Snowy River, which I golf with. I can advise you that the hat does a fine job of filtering sunlight and some glare. You may require a canvas hat if your goal is UV ray coverage; always wear a light sunblock anyway if it is a concern. Since I perspire, I prefer this breathable design over a canvas model.

The brim of the hat will shield you from the sun, however, it will not block all sunlight.
